Peacock Price Increase: How to Save Money on Streaming Service
Peacock just raised its prices, which might feel like a bummer for those who love the service. This latest increase is the largest one yet for Peacock, and it’s coming some time after the last hike in July 2024, right before the summer Olympics. Now, the Premium tier with ads is going up from $7.99 to $10.99 per month, and the Premium Plus ad-free tier is moving from $13.99 to $16.99 per month. If you’re paying annually, those prices are shifting too, going from $79.99 to $109.99 per year with ads and from $139.99 to $169.99 per year without ads.
With this change, Peacock’s ad-supported and ad-free tiers are now pricier than competitors like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Paramount+. The price change went into effect for new subscribers on July 23, but current subscribers won’t see the increase until after August 22, depending on their billing date. If you’re on a promotional deal that started before July 23, you can keep that pricing until the promo period ends, after which you’ll be charged the new rate.
Peacock is also testing a new, more affordable plan called the “Select” tier. This tier costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 annually, the same as the ad-supported tier before the price hike. The Select plan is just starting to roll out, but if it catches on, it might become the cheapest way to subscribe to Peacock. Keep in mind that the Select tier won’t give you access to movies, Peacock Originals, sports and live events, or your local NBC channel. It will include NBC’s current season and library, Bravo shows, additional TV content, and select channels.
If you’re looking to save on a Peacock subscription, there are ways to catch discounts throughout the year. There are student discounts, military discounts, first responders discounts, third-party deals, and more to help you save on your Peacock membership.
