Larry David and the Obamas Collaborate on American History Comedy Show

Barack Obama and Larry David are teaming up for an exciting new comedy series on HBO! The 44th US president and the Curb Your Enthusiasm star will collaborate on a sketch comedy show focused on American history, just in time for the country’s 250th birthday celebration.

The show, which is currently untitled, is a project from Higher Ground, the production company founded by Obama and Michelle after his presidency ended in 2017. Larry David, along with his Curb Your Enthusiasm partner Jeff Schaffer, will be writing the sketches, featuring former cast members from Curb and other special guest stars.

In a press release, the former president shared, “I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David.” David added, “Once Curb ended, I celebrated with a three-day foam party… Unfortunately, my bees mysteriously disappeared, leading me to return to television to fill the void.”

Larry David, known for co-creating Seinfeld and starring in Curb Your Enthusiasm, is certainly no stranger to television success. Amy Gravitt, head of comedy programming at HBO Max, expressed excitement for Larry’s return to the network, emphasizing the opportunity to explore shared history in honor of the nation’s significant milestone.

This collaboration marks Higher Ground’s first project with HBO, expanding their portfolio, which previously included acclaimed documentaries and films on Netflix. With a successful track record including Oscar wins, the anticipation for this new comedy series is high, promising to be a memorable venture for both Obama and David fans alike.
