Stream ‘The Amateur’ on Hulu July 17
Action-thriller “The Amateur” starring Rami Malek is set to arrive on Hulu on July 17, according to an announcement by the streaming platform. In the film, Malek plays CIA analyst Charlie Heller, who is on a mission to avenge his wife’s death after a London terrorist attack. The movie, directed by James Hawes, is based on Robert Littell’s novel and made its theatrical debut on April 11.
Hawes praised Malek’s performance, highlighting his intelligence and charm as contributing factors to the believability of his character. Co-starring alongside Malek are Jon Bernthal, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitriona Balfe, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, and Laurence Fishburne. The film’s teaser on Hulu sees Malek’s character expressing his determination to seek revenge with these chilling words, “I want to kill the people who murdered my wife. I want to look them in the eyes and pull the trigger.”
In other entertainment news, it was announced that Walton Goggins, Ron Funches, Chris Parnell, and Shondrella Avery have joined the voice cast of “Harry and the Mutant Mid-century Furniture.” Additionally, NBC’s “Wicked” special starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande is scheduled to air on November 6, and “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” will hit theaters on December 19, taking SpongeBob and Patrick on an adventure to the Underworld.
Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, and B.J. Novak will join Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in the upcoming “Devil Wears Prada” sequel, which is currently in production. Moreover, “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” the third installment in the “Knives Out” franchise starring Daniel Craig, is lined up for its world premiere at the 69th annual BFI London Film Festival.
