Severance earns five nominations at 2025 TCA Awards

The Television Critics Association recently revealed its 2025 nominations, and it’s no surprise that Apple TV+’s Severance is leading the pack with five nominations. This acclaimed drama has garnered praise across the board and is well-deserving of the recognition it’s receiving.

Not far behind are other fan favorites like Netflix’s Adolescence, HBO Max’s Hacks and The Pitt, and Apple TV+’s The Studio, which have all secured four nominations each. These series are all vying for the coveted title of Program of the Year, alongside other notable mentions like Disney+’s Andor, HBO’s The Rehearsal, and The White Lotus.

Severance not only earned nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of the Year but also snagged three acting nominations for its stellar cast, including Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman. Similarly, Hacks and Adolescence have been recognized for their outstanding performances, with actors like Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart from Hacks and Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham from Adolescence receiving individual nominations.

Rounding out the nominations are noteworthy entries like AMC’s Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire and FX’s The Bear, which have garnered well-deserved nods. There have been some interesting shifts in categories this year, such as Agatha All Along being categorized as a limited series and FX’s Dying for Sex landing in the comedy category when compared to their Emmy placements.

Additionally, new shows like English Teacher (FX), Nobody Wants This (Netflix), and Matlock (CBS) are making waves with multiple nominations. It’s also worth mentioning that HBO Max’s The Pitt and Apple TV+’s The Studio are standouts in the Outstanding New Program category.

TCA President Andy Dehnart emphasized the importance of recognizing the art of television and the talented individuals behind it, noting that all nominees were chosen independently by TCA members who have championed these shows throughout the past year.

This year, the TCA Awards ceremony will be held virtually, and winners will be announced via the association’s social platforms. Stay tuned to find out who will take home the honors and keep an eye out for announcements regarding Career Achievement and Heritage Award recipients in the coming weeks. The nominees were chosen from shows that aired between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025, across all major broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.
