Emily Alyn Lind Left for Dead in First We Were Liars Teaser

and the whole Sinclair family.

This summer, though, everything is different for Cadence — and the whole Sinclair family.

“Something terrible happened last summer,” she says as an eerie scene of her washing up unconscious and alone on the beach plays. “And no one will tell me what.”

Cracks start to form in the family’s perfect facade quickly as Cadence searches for the truth. “When you’re left for dead, you want answers,” she warns as the teaser concludes.

The eight-episode series, which premieres June 18 on Prime Video and was written by The Vampire Diaries creator Julie Plec and The Originals’ Carina Adly MacKenzie, explores the fallout after a “mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever.”Cadence and her family — and most notably, her “tight-knit inner circle, nicknamed the Liars” — spend every summer on “her grandfather’s New England private island,” and the Sinclairs are “American royalty—known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond.”

But after the accident, “everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide.”

Along with Lind, McGregor, Zada, and Maheshwari, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, and Candice King also star as Sinclair sisters — and moms to Cadence, Mirren, and Johnny — Penny, Carrie, and Bess.

Rahul Kohli is also set to portray Ed Patil, along with David Morse as the family patriarch Harris Sinclair.

We Were Liars author E. Lockhart told PEOPLE when revealing that Lind, 23, is narrating a new audiobook recording of the 2014 novel that the actress plays Cadence “with incredible charm and wit, but also with a ton of raw emotion and complexity.”
