Jeremy Renner Rejects ‘Hawkeye 2’ Due to Lower Salary
Jeremy Renner recently spoke out about the possibility of a second season of his Disney+ series, Hawkeye. According to Renner, Disney approached him to reprise his role but offered him only half of what he was paid for the first season. He joked about the reasoning behind this, suggesting it might be related to his snowplow accident in 2023. Renner expressed his concerns about the offer, feeling that taking on another season would require twice the effort for half the pay and eight months of his time.
Hawkeye, which aired in 2021 with Renner as Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, received positive reviews from fans and critics. Despite the success of the first season, a follow-up has not yet been confirmed. Renner indicated that he would still love to return to the role but found the offer disheartening due to the circumstances.
Renner opened up about his accident and the subsequent healing process in his memoir, My Next Breath, released recently. He reflected on the emotional journey of reliving the traumatic experience through writing, emphasizing the strength of the human spirit and the body’s ability to recover. Despite not moving forward with Hawkeye season 2, Renner is keeping busy with other projects, including the Paramount+ drama Mayor of Kingstown, which has been renewed for a fourth season.
