Hokies fall to Demon Deacons in ACC home game

Virginia Tech faced a tough loss to Wake Forest, falling 30-23 on Saturday at Lane Stadium. The Hokies made a late push in the second half but couldn’t quite catch up. With this defeat, Virginia Tech’s record drops to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in ACC play.

The game was neck and neck in the first half, with both teams putting points on the board. The Hokies scored two touchdowns before halftime, one from Marcellous Hawkins rushing in and another from Takye Heath on a reception. However, Wake Forest answered with three touchdowns of their own, leading 24-14 at halftime.

In the second half, Virginia Tech closed the gap with John Love’s impressive kicking performance, earning 11 crucial points. Love’s performance also tied him for seventh place on Virginia Tech’s all-time scoring list alongside former running back Ryan Williams.

Despite the Hokies’ efforts, Wake Forest secured the win with an added field goal in the final quarter, extending their lead to 30-23. Virginia Tech had one last chance to level the score, but their drive fell short, resulting in their fourth loss of the season.
