Hulu to Launch Globally as Disney+ Prepares for Update
Hulu is going global! Disney has officially announced that Hulu will take over the Star section within Disney+ internationally starting on October 8th, with a complete app makeover set for next year.
This change will transform Hulu into Disney’s worldwide general-entertainment brand, following rumors that Star would be phased out in favor of a unified identity across all regions, as first reported by The Verge.
So, what can you expect to see on Disney+ in the near future? Disney promises a fresh new home screen with a revamped navigation bar featuring tabs for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN content (where available). Profiles will be more prominent and show recommendations will become more reliable for an improved viewing experience. Essentially, the UK Disney+ app will see some updates, and the Hulu brand will take the spotlight for TV shows and movies that were previously under Star.
Moreover, Disney will also introduce Google Home style widgets on iOS and other user-friendly enhancements. AI-assisted recommendations will help you discover content faster and more efficiently. While specific dates for these updates are not confirmed yet, we can expect to see them before the full transition to the unified Disney app.
