Hulu Goes Global: Disney+ Unveils 3 Home Screen Updates

Hulu is expanding globally, and Disney+ has some major changes in store for its users. One big change is the replacement of Star with Hulu in the Disney+ app, starting on October 8. This switch comes after some subscribers voiced concerns about recent price increases and cancellations. But don’t worry, Hulu isn’t going anywhere—it’s actually getting even bigger.

Disney CEO Bob Iger previously announced that Hulu would be taking over the Star tile on Disney+ internationally, and now those changes are finally happening. In addition to increasing Hulu’s international presence, Disney+ is making some design upgrades to the app’s homescreen.

One major change is a new navigation bar at the top of the homepage, featuring tabs for Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and recommendations just for you. Disney is also adding new tag labels for “Season Finale,” “New Series,” and “New Movie” to help users discover timely content more easily.

But that’s not all. Disney is introducing new visual elements to the homepage for a more modern and intuitive viewing experience. This includes a new video carousel highlighting recent releases and updated poster art for content sets.

For iOS users, Disney is also launching widgets for one-click access to its programming, taking advantage of the customization options available in iOS 26. Additionally, Disney+ is teasing exclusive mobile experiences coming in the future to keep users engaged.
