Chase Elliott Wins Kansas Playoff Race in Overtime Finish

Chase Elliott had a thrilling come-from-behind victory at the Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by ESPN Bet in Kansas City, Kan. His No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet crossed the finish line just ahead of Denny Hamlin’s Toyota after a dramatic second overtime finish. Elliott’s win secured his spot in the Round of 8 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

Despite restarting eighth for the final two-lap shootout, Elliott managed to edge out Hamlin by 0.069 seconds, claiming his second win of the season and his 21st career victory. Hamlin, who led most of the race and drove without power steering in the closing laps, couldn’t hold off Elliott’s charge to the finish.

In a post-race interview, Elliott shared his excitement about the win, highlighting the teamwork and strategic moves that led to his victory. Hamlin, on the other hand, expressed disappointment at falling short of his 60th career win but remains in a strong position in the playoff standings.

Christopher Bell finished third, followed by Chase Briscoe and Bubba Wallace, who led the field briefly before fading to fifth. Wallace expressed frustration at missing out on the win after a last-lap battle with Hamlin.

Despite the intense competition and close finishes, Wallace remains 10th in the standings, just below the cutoff for the next round of playoffs. The race provided plenty of excitement and unexpected twists, setting the stage for more thrilling action in the upcoming races.
