Romanian documentary ‘TATA’ premieres on HBO Max in October
The Romanian documentary “TATA” is set to premiere on HBO Max on October 3. Directed by Lina Vdovîi and Radu Ciorniciuc, this powerful film follows a daughter’s journey to overcome family violence and confront her painful past. Filmed in Italy, Moldova, and Romania, the documentary made its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024 and has since won seven awards in various prestigious festivals worldwide.
The film tells the story of Lina, a Moldovan journalist who embarks on an emotional investigation after receiving a distressing video from her father, a migrant worker in Italy, revealing signs of abuse. “TATA” delves into themes of domestic violence and generational trauma, shedding light on crucial issues that impact many families.
