Disney is also raising the prices of its bundles. For example, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads will go from $10.99 a month to $12.99 a month starting October 21. Subscribers who opt for the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Premium with no ads on Disney/Hulu will see an increase from $26.99 a month to $29.99 a month.
While this price increase coincides with the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel, it’s part of Disney’s regular business strategy to periodically adjust subscription costs. Despite the timing, Disney had planned these increases before the Jimmy Kimmel controversy. According to Variety, discussions between Sinclair Broadcast Group and ABC affiliates remain ongoing regarding the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The recent price hike also follows Disney’s acquisition of Hulu from Comcast, a move that signals the integration of the two streaming services. Hulu is expected to shut down next year as the Mouse House consolidates its streaming platforms.
