Man of Tomorrow Cast Confirms Return of DCU Villain

In the recent commentary for Superman, James Gunn dropped a bombshell—The Engineer, played by Maria Gabriela de Faria, will be making a return in the upcoming sequel, Man of Tomorrow. The Engineer, along with Ultraman and Lex Luthor, gives Superman a run for his money in the previous film, and Gunn hinted at her mysterious fate.

“[Superman knocked] The Engineer unconscious,” Gunn shared during the commentary. “She’s out of the movie. Where does she go? Well, you’re going to find that out in the next movie.”

But that’s not all! Gunn also hinted that Ultraman, the twisted version of Superman from Earth-3, might just make a comeback. In the comics, Ultraman is a clone of Superman and part of The Crime Syndicate, serving as an evil doppelganger. So, keep your eyes peeled!

While we don’t know much about the plot of Man of Tomorrow, we do know that it’s set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, with familiar faces like Corenswet, Hoult, and Brosnahan making a return. The moniker “Man of Tomorrow” has been used in various DC comic runs and was also the title of a 2020 animated film, but whether the upcoming sequel will draw from this material remains a mystery.

If you’re itching for some Superman action, you can catch the original film on digital platforms like Apple TV and Fandango at Home. The synopsis promises a fresh take on the superhero genre, blending epic action, humor, and heart in a newly reimagined DC universe—a must-see for all superhero fans!
