HBO Max DC Removal Due to James Gunn’s Disapproval: ‘It’s Meaningless’
Fans of DC content on HBO Max may have noticed a recent change in the lineup, and it seems to have a connection to statements made by James Gunn. Gunn is currently working on a new DC Universe, promising to bring some lesser-known heroes and characters into the limelight. With HBO Max playing a role in promoting this new DC saga, fans are understandably curious about what’s in store.
HBO Max has been a treasure trove of DC programming for years, featuring content that spans the comic book giant’s extensive history. While it’s common for programming to come and go on streaming platforms, recent comments from James Gunn seem to have influenced a specific alteration.
Currently, HBO Max has a “Characters Coming to the DCU” section to coincide with Superman’s arrival on the streaming service. This section showcases key episodes from various DC shows, teasing the introduction of characters such as Clayface, Supergirl, and Lobo in the live-action DC Universe in the near future.
However, two episodes have disappeared from this section recently: Titans Season 2, Episode 13 and Justice League Season 2, Episode 3. The Titans episode, titled “Nightwing,” and the Justice League episode featuring the villain Amazo have been removed.
Interestingly, this change appears to have been prompted by James Gunn’s acknowledgment of the section. Gunn commented that he was unsure of how the material ended up on HBO Max and referred to it as “meaningless.”
As Gunn continues to roll out new projects in the DC Universe, including the recent releases of Creature Commandos Season 1 and Superman, fans can expect more updates and surprises. While he has revealed plans for numerous projects, including hints about the future of characters like Nightwing and the Justice League, much remains shrouded in mystery.
It’s clear that James Gunn has big plans for the DC Universe, and fans will have to stay tuned for more announcements and developments in the coming months as he continues to expand this new franchise.
