Sarah Michelle Gellar Clarifies Hulu’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer is Not a Reboot

Sarah Michelle Gellar made it clear that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival on Hulu is not a reboot. In fact, she described it as a continuation of the original series, picking up 25 years later in the world of Buffy.

The revival received a pilot order earlier this year, with Gellar reprising her role as Buffy Summers in a recurring capacity. The new series will focus on Nova, played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, a high school student who is also the newest vampire slayer in town.

As an executive producer on the show, Gellar expressed her excitement about the project, emphasizing that it was made with a lot of love and passion for the fans. The rest of the cast includes Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Merrin Dungey, Audrey Hsieh, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Chase Sui Wonders.

Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman are the showrunners, writers, and executive producers, with Chloé Zhao directing the pilot. While no release date has been announced yet, fans can expect the new series to keep the Buffyverse alive and well on Hulu.
