Chelsea Frei Analyzes Ned and Mare’s Kiss and Shares Season 2 Hopes
The season finale of “The Paper” on Peacock left fans in a romantic cliffhanger between coworkers Ned and Mare, played by Domhnall Gleeson and Chelsea Frei, respectively. But did you know that their final kiss almost didn’t happen?
In an interview with Swooon, Frei revealed that the ending scene was shot in multiple ways before the final cut. “We shot that ending like a million different ways,” she shared. “I didn’t even know that’s how it was going to be.”
Frei explained that there were versions of the finale where Ned and Mare didn’t share a kiss. The decision to include the romantic moment was influenced by the direction the season was taking and how the writers wanted their relationship to unfold.
