Drinks poised for their moment: A PUNCH analysis

Drinks are finally having their moment on screen with two exciting new shows to look forward to this fall. You know how most shows just use drinks as a backdrop or for drama? Well, Black Rabbit and House of Guinness on Netflix are changing that game.

If you’re familiar with The Bear, you’ll know that a show highlighting the drinks industry can have a big impact. It can be eye-opening and sometimes a bit intense, revealing the not-so-pretty side of things. But it’s always fascinating to get a glimpse behind the scenes.

House of Guinness, created by the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders, is about four siblings who inherit the famous Guinness brewery after their father’s passing. Sounds like a mix of Succession and historical drama set in Dublin in the 1860s. Intriguing, right?

Then there’s Black Rabbit, a new series featuring Jude Law as a restaurant owner in Manhattan with a happening cocktail lounge. When his trouble-making brother, played by Jason Bateman, shows up, things get interesting. Think of it as a nightlife-centered version of The Bear set in New York.

Bonus fun fact: Black Rabbit is also the name of a pub in Brooklyn, but it’s not officially linked to the show. The bar owner, Kent Lanier, is excited about it and even offered to buy drinks for Jude Law and Jason Bateman if they swing by. How cool is that?
