Hulu Releases Eight-Part Heavy Metal Documentary Series on September 22

A fascinating look at the world of metal music is coming to Hulu this fall with the debut of Into the Void: Life, Death & Heavy Metal. This compelling documentary series will delve into eight gripping stories from the genre’s history, providing viewers with a raw and honest look at the highs and lows of metal music.

Starting on September 22, viewers can tune in to hear from iconic figures such as Sharon Osbourne, Phil Anselmo, and Randy Blythe, as they share their personal experiences and insights into the world of metal. Each hour-long episode peels back the layers of metal’s past, shedding light on important moments in the genre’s history.

The first episode pays tribute to guitar legend Randy Rhoads, exploring his legacy and tragic death in a 1982 plane crash. Sharon Osbourne describes Rhoads as a true gift and how he brought out the best in Ozzy Osbourne. The series also delves into dark chapters in metal history, including Judas Priest’s 1985 court battle, the murder of Pantera’s Dimebag Darrell, and Chuck Schuldiner’s battle for life as the founder of Death.

Featuring stories of Wendy O. Williams, Iranian band Confess, and Hellion’s Ann Boleyn, the series aims to challenge the stereotypes often associated with metal music. Producers Jason Eisener and Evan Husney, known for their work on Vice TV’s Dark Side of the Ring, are behind the series, along with Guillermo Garcia and Barry Davis from Vice Studios Canada.

Combining archival footage with fresh interviews, Into the Void: Life, Death & Heavy Metal promises to provide viewers with a comprehensive look at metal’s wild side. As Sharon Osbourne aptly puts it in the trailer, “Music is something that doesn’t die. After we’ve gone, it will live on.” Don’t miss the premiere of this captivating series on Hulu starting on September 22.
