Wednesday Streaming Ratings Hold Strong at No. 1
Wednesday’s season two continued to dominate the streaming charts in its second week following the premiere, although it wasn’t quite as strong as its debut. FX’s Alien: Earth also made its mark, entering the rankings with its premiere on Hulu.
For the week of August 11-17, Wednesday saw a 43 percent decline from the previous week but still managed to attract 2.14 billion minutes of watch time in the U.S., according to Nielsen. Sullivan’s Crossing, the CTV/CW drama, climbed the charts after the third season landed on Netflix, logging 1.59 billion minutes to secure the second spot overall. The summer hit KPop Demon Hunters continued its success with 1.02 billion viewing minutes.
Alien: Earth debuted with 464 million minutes of watch time on Hulu for its first two episodes, placing it seventh among original series. Meanwhile, Prime Video’s Butterfly, a spy thriller starring Daniel Dae Kim, secured 491 million minutes of watch time.
In terms of rankings, The Hunting Wives and King of the Hill switched places from the previous week, with the former capturing 761 million minutes on Netflix and the latter 714 million minutes on Hulu.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings focus on viewing through TV sets and exclude minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. Additionally, the ratings are specific to U.S. audiences and do not account for viewership in other countries.
