Top TV Shows Overlooked by Emmys 2025
When it comes to the Emmys, not every show gets the recognition it deserves. This year, the TV Academy focused on hits like “Severance,” “The Pitt,” and “The White Lotus,” leaving some fan-favorite shows out in the cold.
For example, “Yellowjackets,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and “Squid Game” were conspicuously absent from the nominations, despite their popularity with viewers and critics alike. It’s a tough break for these shows, but the Emmys can be a fickle beast.
On the other hand, some shows flew under the Emmys’ radar altogether. One such hidden gem is “Interview with the Vampire” on AMC, a critically acclaimed series based on Anne Rice’s iconic book series. Jacob Anderson’s performance as a centuries-old vampire has been a standout, yet somehow overlooked by the Emmys.
Similarly, “1923” on Paramount+ starring Hollywood legends Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford failed to make the cut with Emmy voters, despite its strong performances and compelling storyline. It seems even big names can’t always guarantee a nomination.
And then there’s “The Day of the Jackal” on Peacock, a British spy thriller that garnered attention at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, but couldn’t quite crack the Emmy nominations list. With so much competition out there, even great shows can get left behind.
These are just a few examples of the shows the Emmys are sleeping on this year, but there are plenty more where that came from. From “Industry” on HBO Max to “Overcompensating” on Amazon Prime Video, there’s no shortage of quality programming that deserves recognition.
So, while the Emmys may not have given these shows their due this time around, there’s always next year. And who knows, with so many great series out there, the TV Academy might just wake up to some of these hidden gems.
