Manchester United Launch Investigation into Missing Player Boots

Manchester United recently found themselves in a bit of a shoe dilemma before their Women’s Champions League qualifier against SK Brann. The team discovered that some of their players’ boots had gone missing en route to Norway for the match. In a last-minute scramble, the club had to purchase several replacement pairs just hours before kick-off, with the game resulting in a 1-0 loss for United.

Local shop owner, Andre Gullord, shared with the BBC that United had to fork out several thousand pounds to replace the missing boots. According to him, they were fortunate that his store had enough boots in stock in the right sizes. The players had to shell out between £200 and £230 for each pair, on top of £30 for the shin guards. This was quite a unique situation, as Gullord mentioned that they occasionally have individual players come in for forgotten boots, but never an entire team.

Lisa Naalsund, a midfielder from Bergen, even had to ask her mom to bring some boots to the stadium for her. It was quite the spectacle! A spokesperson for United confirmed the mishap, stating that a bag containing the players’ boots had gone missing during the journey. The club is currently investigating the strange occurrence and made sure to provide new boots for all the affected players in the meantime. It’s definitely a story that adds a bit of unexpected drama to the lead-up to the match!
