US Open Sets New Audience Records for Eurosport and HBO Max

European audiences were glued to the US Open tennis action this year, with record-breaking viewership for HBO Max and Eurosport. Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) brought the exclusive broadcasts to 45 countries across Europe, and Eurosport 1 saw a 32% increase in its US Open audience compared to last year.

In Poland, Eurosport marked 25 years of coverage with a massive audience for the men’s singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, pulling in a six-figure average viewership. Meanwhile, Eurosport France had its highest audience numbers in ten years, with both the men’s and women’s singles finals drawing in a huge number of viewers.

Eurosport delivered a whopping 260 hours of live coverage throughout the tournament, with audience growth seen in several markets, including a 50% increase in Romania and a 27% rise in the Netherlands. Seven out of the top ten most-watched programs on Eurosport featured US Open matches, with Iga Swiatek’s quarter-final match with Amanda Anisimova being the top-rated broadcast.

The new mixed doubles event also caught the attention of viewers, especially in Poland, where local favorite Iga Swiatek and partner Casper Ruud garnered 58% of total minutes watched during the event.

HBO Max also saw a surge in tennis viewership, nearly doubling its audience compared to the previous year. The triple-digit growth was particularly significant in France, Poland, and the Netherlands, with double-digit increases in Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Overall, the number of subscribers streaming the US Open increased by 86% year-on-year, with tennis making up 45% of all sports content streamed in Europe during the event.

For fans in the UK, Sky Sports broadcasted the US Open, allowing audiences to catch all the action. The enthusiasm for tennis was truly felt across Europe, breaking records and captivating viewers throughout the tournament.
