David Zaslav: TV Is Now a Poor Consumer Experience
David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, recently shared his thoughts on the television landscape, stating that TV has become a “terrible consumer experience.” However, he made it clear that he was not including his own shows in that assessment.
During the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, Zaslav discussed HBO Max’s growth and the challenges facing the industry. He noted that the plethora of streaming options available to consumers has made the TV experience overwhelming, with viewers often struggling to navigate between platforms and content.
Zaslav expressed confidence in HBO Max’s future success, projecting that the platform will reach over 150 million households next year. He highlighted the quality of content offered by HBO Max and emphasized that their competitive advantage would allow them to increase subscription prices gradually.
In addition, Zaslav hinted at plans to address password sharing among HBO Max users in the future. While the company has not yet implemented strict measures to combat password sharing, Zaslav suggested that changes could be on the horizon as HBO Max continues to gain popularity.
