Disney+ strikes major Spanish-language deal with Atresplayer for content integration

Exciting news for Disney+ users in Spain! Disney+ has reached a groundbreaking agreement with Atresplayer to bring more than 300 hours of Atresmedia content to the streaming platform. This specially curated collection will be available through the Atresplayer label starting this month.

Karl Holmes, general manager of Disney+ for EMEA, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the high-quality local content that Atresmedia offers. This collaboration follows similar agreements made by Disney+ in the UK with ITVX and in Germany with ZDF.

It’s all part of a growing trend of collaboration between European streaming platforms and broadcasters, with Netflix and TF1 in France also teaming up recently. The CEO of Atresmedia, Javier Bardají, emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating that it allows them to promote Spanish talent and culture on an international platform like Disney+.

Some of the exciting Atresmedia titles coming to Disney+ include Mar Fuera, La Voz, Tu Cara Me Sonido, La Encrucijada, Sueños de Libertad, Vis a Vis, Física o Química, and Aquí No Hay Quien Viva. With co-exclusive rights to a wide range of Atresmedia productions, Disney+ users can look forward to enjoying a diverse selection of Spanish content on the platform.
