Netflix expands live-sports portfolio with 6 Kings Slam tennis event in October
Netflix is venturing further into the world of tennis with its acquisition of the 2025 6 Kings Slam event, set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from October 15 to 18. The lineup for this event is stacked with top-tier talent, including men’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper, and Taylor Fritz.
One of the key draws for players participating in the 6 Kings Slam is the impressive prize money. Last year’s winner, Jannik Sinner, took home a cool $6 million, outpacing the earnings of winners in major championships. Even just showing up guarantees competitors $1.5 million each.
This move marks Netflix’s second step into live tennis coverage after the Netflix Slam exhibition in 2024. The streaming giant is expanding its live-sports portfolio, which already includes NFL games, golf events, WWE Raw, boxing matches, and more. By diving into live sports, Netflix aims to create limited-edition programming that appeals to a global audience and could potentially attract new subscribers.
While traditional Grand Slam events are off-limits due to existing partnerships with other media outlets, streaming platforms like Netflix are looking into league-unsanctioned and exhibition-style sports events. This shift allows companies like Netflix to tap into the popularity of sports while also maximizing their broadcasting capabilities.
The 6 Kings Slam is produced by IMG, a company under TKO Holdings, which also owns UFC and WWE. With TKO’s involvement in multiple sports, including tennis now, it seems that the company is expanding its reach to include a range of sports with a global following.
