Welcome to Derry Release Date Set for Pennywise Prequel on HBO Max

HBO Max has officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated prequel series to the hit horror film franchise IT. Get ready for IT: Welcome to Derry, where Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as the eerie Pennywise the Clown.

The show, set in the world of Stephen King’s IT universe, is based on King’s IT novel and expands on the vision of filmmaker Andy Muschietti from the IT and IT Chapter Two movies.

IT: Welcome to Derry is scheduled to premiere on October 26, exclusively on HBO and HBO Max. Alongside Skarsgård, the series features a stellar cast including Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, and more.

This nine-episode prequel is created and executive produced by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, with Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane as showrunners. Andy Muschietti, who directed the film franchise, also directed several episodes of the prequel. Additionally, Skarsgård serves as an executive producer alongside David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin.

Season 1 of IT: Welcome to Derry is set in 1962 and delves into the events leading up to Pennywise’s emergence. Drawing from material in the novel based on Mike Hanlon’s research, the series incorporates stories like the Black Spot fire and the Bradley Gang massacre.
