Amazon ends Prime Invitee Program: What Subscribers Should Know & How to…

If you’ve been enjoying Prime benefits through Amazon’s Prime Invitee program, here’s a heads up: Amazon is discontinuing the program on October 1, 2025. According to The Verge, Amazon is suggesting that those who previously shared benefits through invitees transition to Amazon Family (its household-sharing option) or sign up for their own Prime membership.

This change from Amazon comes as more companies are tightening their policies on sharing, including password sharing. With a focus on boosting subscription numbers, many services are implementing restrictions on sharing.

Last month, HBO Max announced a crackdown on password sharing, following in the footsteps of Disney+ and Hulu from last year. Even Netflix, which previously allowed password sharing, has shifted gears by cracking down on it in 2023, prompting others to do the same.

So, if you were benefitting from Prime perks through a Prime member’s invitation, you will be affected by the end of the Prime Invitee program on October 1, 2025. You can transition to Amazon Family next month if you want to continue sharing Prime benefits.

Amazon Family, previously known as Amazon Household, is the platform Amazon uses to share Prime benefits and digital content within your household. It allows one Prime member to share eligible perks like Prime shipping, Prime Video access, and select digital libraries with other adults, teens, and children living at the same primary address.

An Amazon Family can include up to two adults, up to four teens (added before April 7, 2025), and up to four children profiles. Only one adult in the household needs an active Prime membership to enable shared benefits. Keep in mind the rules and limitations, such as all household members must reside at the same primary address.

Benefits of Amazon Family include fast and free delivery on Prime eligible items, access to exclusive events and deals, Prime Video with ads, Prime Reading, access to third-party benefits like Grubhub, and digital content like audio books, eBooks, games, and more. Additionally, Prime members can share their Amazon Music Prime benefit with one other adult in their Amazon Family for ad-free listening on shuffle mode.

You can manage your Amazon Family on the Amazon Prime Membership page by selecting “Share Your Prime Benefits” and then “Manage Your Amazon Family” to add adults or children.

If you want to learn more about this change or take advantage of Amazon Family, don’t hesitate to check out Amazon’s page. Remember, the Prime Invitee program ends on October 1, 2025, so make sure to make the switch before then to continue enjoying your Prime benefits hassle-free.
