Discover ‘The Chosen’ Animated Spinoff featuring a Gentle Jesus for Kids
The animated spinoff of “The Chosen” is set to bring a softer, more kid-friendly version of Jesus to audiences soon. Amazon Prime Video has announced plans for 14 11-minute episodes of “The Chosen Adventures,” a new series inspired by the original biblical drama.
This new show will focus on Abby, a young character full of curiosity, living in Capernaum, and her friendship with Joshua. When Abby and Joshua meet Jesus (voiced by Jonathan Roumie), their lives are changed forever. The series is expected to premiere later in 2025.
In an interview on the set of “The Chosen,” creator Dallas Jenkins shared that the third episode of the original series, where Jesus spends time with children, resonated deeply with viewers. This led to the idea of exploring these stories from a children’s perspective in the animated spinoff. Jenkins expressed that the show will not just retell “The Chosen” but will delve into the everyday experiences of kids during that time.
“The Chosen Adventures” aims to address questions about faith, the impact of Jesus’ teachings, and the curiosity of children in a whimsical and engaging way. While adults will still find value in the series, kids will enjoy seeing their own questions and perspectives reflected on screen.
The spinoff will introduce new characters to the “Chosen” universe, with Paul Walter Hauser, Yvonne Orji, and Jordin Sparks joining the cast to voice various roles alongside Jonathan Roumie as Jesus. This exciting adventure promises to bring a fresh and exciting take on the beloved story of Jesus, appealing to audiences of all ages.
