New Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Movie Now Streaming on Disney+

Disney+ is adding the blockbuster live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch” this week, based on the beloved 2002 animated classic. After its theatrical release in May, the film became available for digital streaming through premium video on demand in July. The heartwarming story follows an orphaned Hawaiian girl named Lilo, played by Maia Kealoha, who is taken care of by her older sister Nani, portrayed by Sydney Agudong. When they adopt Stitch from the animal pound, they discover that he is not a dog, but an alien experiment who has landed on Earth after being exiled from his alien family.

Despite the chaos that Stitch brings, Lilo and Nani form a bond with him and feel like a family again. However, their newfound happiness is threatened by both alien pursuers and human authorities intent on separating them from Stitch.

The star-studded cast includes Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Kaipo Dudoit, and the voice of Hannah Waddingham. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the film also features Chris Sanders reprising his role as the voice of Stitch from the animated version.

Disney recently announced that “Lilo & Stitch” will be available on Disney+ starting Wednesday, September 3. Disney+ offers two subscription options: the Basic plan with advertisements for $9.99 per month, and the Premium plan without ads for $15.99 per month or $159.99 per year.

The live-action adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch” marks the film debut of Maia Kealoha, who impressed director Dean Fleischer Camp with her audition. Following a successful opening weekend, the film has become the highest-grossing movie globally in 2025, earning over $1 billion worldwide. Rated PG, “Lilo & Stitch” is set to bring joy and adventure to audiences of all ages when it arrives on Disney+ this week.
