HBO Confirms ‘Harry Potter’ Character to Appear in New Series

Harry Potter series is about Harry, there are so many other characters that make the universe as popular as it is. You’ve got Harry’s best friends, Ron and Hermione, as well as the Weasley family. Ron’s family became Harry’s surrogate family throughout the series, with parents Arthur and Molly, and seven children—Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny.

While we got to know Ron, Fred, George, and Ginny pretty well in the books and movies, Charlie Weasley wasn’t as prominent. He’s mentioned here and there, with a passing mention in the first film that he’s working with dragons in Romania. But now, HBO has confirmed that Charlie will be part of the new Harry Potter series that’s in the works!

At a recent announcement, HBO shared some of the Weasley siblings’ casting, including Alastair Stout as Ron, Tristan Harland and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George, Ruari Spooner as Percy, and Gracie Cochrane as Ginny. They also mentioned that Charlie is currently in Romania but will be joining his siblings soon.

The series, set to premiere on HBO Max in early 2027, has already started filming, with a star-studded cast including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore. There are still some roles to be announced, like Arthur, Bill, and Charlie Weasley, as well as the mysterious casting of Lord Voldemort.
