Top Series Spot Taken by “The Hunting Wives” in Streaming Ratings
In the week of July 28-August 3, “The Hunting Wives” snagged the top spot for streaming series in the US. This spicy drama from Lionsgate TV and 3 Arts, initially produced for Starz before moving to Netflix, raked in 1.58 billion minutes of viewing time, making it number one for series and second overall behind “Happy Gilmore 2” with 1.99 billion minutes. The show saw a 16 percent increase from its premiere week, and showrunner Rebecca Cutter had another Starz series, “Hightown,” in the top 10 with 750 million viewing minutes after being added to Netflix a week prior.
“Happy Gilmore 2” had a slight drop of 31 percent from its record-breaking opening but still held a strong lead in Nielsen’s charts. The popular summer hit “KPop Demon Hunters” hit a new peak in the US for the fourth week in a row with 1.1 billion minutes, up from 1.03 billion the previous week.
On the flip side, after two exceptional weeks, “Untamed” saw a significant drop of over half in week three, clocking in at 872 million viewing minutes. Netflix’s new sitcom “Leanne” starring Leanne Morgan premiered with 690 million minutes, while Hulu’s “The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball” streamed to 363 million viewing minutes.
Just a reminder, Nielsen’s streaming ratings only cover viewing on TV sets. So, if you’re looking for your next binge-watch, these top streaming series might be worth checking out!
