In the remake, Maika Monroe portrays Polly, a seemingly sweet nanny hired by suburban couple Caitlin and Miguel Morales, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Raúl Castillo, to care for their baby. However, Polly’s true intentions are far from nurturing, causing horror for Caitlin and Miguel.

Director Michelle Garza Cervera promises a fresh take on the original film, with new characters, a different setting in Los Angeles, and more complex backstories for the characters. The dynamic between Polly and Caitlin is portrayed with shades of gray, creating an intriguing yin and yang dynamic between the two.

Maika Monroe, known for her work in horror films like It Follows, brings a sinister and contained tone to her role as Polly. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, with a background in thrillers such as Final Destination 3, adds depth and transformation to her character, Caitlin. The chemistry between Monroe and Winstead adds layers to their characters’ relationship, leading to unexpected twists.
