Keeley Hazell Reveals Ex Jason Sudeikis Wrote Letters for Her

Nearly landing a leading role on the hit show Ted Lasso would have been a dream come true for Keeley Hazell. In her new memoir, Everyone’s Seen My Tits, the 38-year-old actress revealed that her ex, Jason Sudeikis, had met up with her to discuss a role he had written for her. Sudeikis had created a new “football show set in England” which eventually became Ted Lasso, where he played the lead role of optimistic American football coach Ted.

Excited at the prospect of being a lead in a TV show, Hazell shared that Sudeikis had discussed the role of Keeley with her, a character who shared her own name. Despite auditioning multiple times and being at the top of the list according to Sudeikis, Hazell was eventually offered a different part in the Apple TV+ series. The role of Keeley went to Juno Temple, leaving Hazell feeling devastated. In her book, she expressed her disappointment, saying, “I felt like I’d been punched in the chest. Once I didn’t get cast as Keeley, I decided that acting could go f— itself.”

Following the letdown, Hazell worked on Love Island as a producer before taking on the role of Bex in Ted Lasso, though it was a minor part. Despite the setback, Hazell reflected on the experience, noting that people often mistook her for the character from the show. While she praised the character for defying stereotypes, Hazell acknowledged the differences between herself and her fictional counterpart.

In closing, Hazell highlighted her resilience and the importance of embracing her own identity. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to portray the real Keeley, stating, “I get to play the greatest role of my lifetime — the Real Keeley, and here she f—— is.”
