ESPN Launches Streaming App: Cable-Free Option Available
ESPN recently made a big change by launching a brand new app that gives fans direct access to all of its networks without the need for a cable subscription. This new app, called ESPN, offers a variety of new features to enhance your streaming experience.
With the launch of the new app, ESPN introduced two service plans to choose from. ESPN Unlimited is priced at $29.99 per month or $299.99 per year, while ESPN Select, previously known as ESPN+, is available for $11.99 per month or $119.99 per year. You also have the option to add NFL RedZone to your ESPN DTC package for an additional $79.99 per year. Additionally, ESPN is planning to offer more bundles in the future, including options for Fox Sports and potentially MLB.
One of the great things about this new app is that it provides access to a wide range of live games and sports programming, including the highly anticipated Florida State vs. Alabama college football season kickoff game. Even though this game is scheduled to air on ABC, you can watch it without a cable subscription through the ESPN app.
ESPN’s transition to a direct-to-consumer streaming service marks a significant shift from its traditional cable-only model. The new app offers a personalized “SportsCenter For You” feature, a “Verts” video tab similar to TikTok, and a “Where to Watch” widget that functions like a TV guide to help you find and watch your favorite sports content.
For longtime fans of ESPN, this new streaming service represents a major change from the network’s origins in cable television. With its vast array of live games, original programming, and special features, the ESPN app aims to provide sports enthusiasts with a comprehensive and immersive streaming experience.
