DC’s James Gunn Wants to Erase This Peacemaker Scene from HBO Max

ith (John Cena), is something Gunn decided to carry over from one world to the next. Gunn shared in an interview that he wished he could make changes to a scene in the show that featured a Justice League cameo from Zack Snyder’s assembly. Due to budget constraints, these changes were not possible, but Gunn expressed his desire to tinker with the scene much like George Lucas’ edits to “Star Wars.”

The transition from the old DC Universe to the revamped DCU led to a bit of confusion, as it was not a complete reboot. Gunn clarified that only certain projects, including “Creature Commandos,” “Superman,” and now “Peacemaker” season 2, are 100% canon within the DC Universe timeline. While some details from “The Suicide Squad” and “Peacemaker” season 1 may tie into these stories, others, such as the Justice League cameo, do not align with the reimagined universe.

Gunn acknowledged that while some die-hard comic fans might scrutinize these details, the average viewer is more concerned with the overall entertainment value of the show rather than strict adherence to canon. He emphasized that the changes between seasons are minimal, making it easy for viewers to accept season 2 as a continued part of the series without needing a special edition re-release.

“Peacemaker” is currently available for streaming on HBO Max for fans to enjoy.
