Bully Ray Questions AEW Viewership Numbers on HBO Max
During a recent chat on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray and host Dave LaGreca sat down to chat about AEW viewership numbers on HBO Max. A report by BJ Bethel on SEScoops in March stated that AEW was pulling in an average of 500,000 viewers per week on the streaming platform when it was still just Max.
Bully Ray wasn’t totally convinced by these numbers, though. He expressed his doubts about the accuracy of these viewership stats, questioning how many people could really be tuning in on a streaming service that didn’t even crack the Top 10. He called for a dose of logic and realism, suggesting that the numbers might be inflated.
In fact, Bully Ray took a stab at guessing what he thought AEW might actually be drawing on HBO Max: 100K viewers. That’s a pretty big difference from the reported 500K.
It’s worth noting that HBO Max doesn’t make its viewership numbers public, so it’s hard to say for sure how many people are actually watching AEW on the platform. As of August, HBO Max reportedly had 125.7 million subscribers worldwide. Meanwhile, the recent Forbidden Door edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS pulled in an average rating of 0.16 in the P18-49 demo and 565,000 viewers.
In the end, it’s clear that the world of streaming viewership numbers can be a bit murky. But one thing’s for sure – AEW is attracting a dedicated fan base, whether it’s on HBO Max or traditional TV.
