Netflix: Matthew McConaughey, Cole Hauser, and Nic Pizzolatto Show Secured in Bidding War
Netflix has just landed a new, top-secret project that has set off a fierce bidding war in Hollywood. The show, which is still shrouded in mystery and doesn’t have a title yet, is a collaboration between True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, True Detective star Matthew McConaughey, and Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser. Skydance Sports is the production company behind the project.
Streaming giants Amazon, Apple, and Netflix were all vying for the rights to this intriguing new series, with Netflix ultimately emerging as the winner. While the project is still in the early stages of development, there are talks underway to finalize deals with McConaughey and Hauser to star in the show.
Interestingly, HBO was noticeably absent from the bidding war, possibly due to Pizzolatto’s past criticisms of the network. McConaughey and Hauser have a shared history, having previously starred together in Dazed and Confused.
While details about the project are scarce, it is being tentatively referred to as “The Brothers Project” and is rumored to involve McConaughey and Hauser playing siblings. With Skydance Sports involved, there may be a sports angle to the show, although the exact setting and premise remain a mystery for now. This new collaboration between McConaughey, Hauser, and Pizzolatto is certainly one to watch as it unfolds.
