MTV and Paramount+ Renew ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ for New Seasons
Exciting news for fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race! MTV and Paramount+ have given the green light for new seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and Untucked. This comes after RuPaul’s Drag Race received an impressive 10 Emmy award nominations across the franchise.
The co-founders and executive producers of World of Wonder, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, expressed their gratitude to Paramount for their support of the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise. Season 18 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is set to return to MTV, following a successful season 17 that had the highest-rated premiere in seven years. Onya Nurve made history as the first queen from Cleveland to win the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. The Emmy award-winning after-show, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, will also be returning.
In addition to RuPaul’s Drag Race, Paramount+ has renewed RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars for season 11, after the success of the first-ever Tournament of All Stars season. Ginger Minj earned a spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame,” with guest appearances from stars like Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The popular after-show, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked, will also be making a comeback.
RuPaul has made history as the most decorated person of color in Emmy history, receiving his tenth consecutive nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program. RuPaul’s Drag Race is nominated in 10 categories, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.
