2 Poachers Arrested for Illegal Hunting of Peacock and Nilgai in Adilabad
Adilabad forest officials made a significant seizure on Monday, uncovering the meat of four peacocks and the intestines of a female nilgai. Two poachers were arrested in connection with the case, while two others are still on the run. The arrested individuals, Neelesh Chowhan (22) and Rathod Roshan (18), hail from Parva village in Ghatanji, Maharashtra. The absconding accused are Sandeep Rathod and Sanjeev Rathod from Gimma village in Tamsi mandal, Adilabad district.
During a raid at a house in Gimma village, forest officials found the illicit goods along with incriminating photographs of the accused proudly posing with the dead peacock and nilgai. It was discovered that the accused had crossed the Penganga river into Pipplakoti forest in Maharashtra to carry out the illegal hunt. The four culprits, who are relatives, admitted that their intention was to feast on the meat. Sandeep Rathod and Sanjeev Rathod had organized the gathering for their relatives, Neelesh Chowhan and Rathod Roshan, who had traveled from Maharashtra to Gimma.
