OS Security Updates: Apple TV+ Price Increase and Poll Results on the Apple Ecosystem

We’re taking a break from our regular email issue next week for Labor Day, so the next one will hit your inbox on September 8, 2025. Apple just pushed out some urgent security updates for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS to tackle a critical ImageIO vulnerability that hackers were taking advantage of. In less pressing news, Apple has hiked the monthly price of Apple TV+ to $12.99, but the $99 annual plan remains unchanged to keep subscribers happy.

Our recent reader poll shows that Apple products like Macs and iPhones are overwhelmingly popular, with 97% of respondents using Macs and 94% carrying iPhones. However, lesser-known products like HomePod and Vision Pro see lower adoption rates. If you’re into insider stories, don’t miss former Apple executive Mike Shebanek at a free presentation talking about his wild 19-year career at Apple, where he was behind game-changing products like the original iMac and the first iPad.

In other Apple-related news, there have been reports of AppleCare One running into some trouble with multiple macOS user accounts. Plus, Apple is expanding its Self Service Repair program to Canada, making it easier for Canadians to fix their Apple devices on their own.
