Streaming Service Announces 30% Price Increase
Apple TV+ just made an announcement that’s got subscribers talking – a 30% price increase. That’s right, the monthly subscription price for the streaming service has gone up from $9.99 to $12.99. But hold on, there’s some good news too. The annual plan, priced at $99.99 per year, and the Apple One bundle, starting at $19.95 a month, will remain the same – for now, at least.
Apple TV+ shared that the reason behind the price increase is all the new content they’ve been rolling out. They’ve been working hard to bring subscribers a diverse range of programs and movies, plus, they don’t show any ads. That’s a big deal considering many other streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Peacock, and Disney+ offer ad-supported subscription plans for a lower cost.
This marks the third time that Apple TV+ has upped their prices since launching in 2019. It started at $4.99 a month, then moved to $6.99 in 2022, followed by $9.99 in 2023. Now, with the latest increase, it’s at $12.99.
But wait, there’s more! Apple also gave us a sneak peek at some upcoming premiere dates. “The Morning Show” Season 4 is set to premiere on Sept. 17, followed by “Slow Horses” Season 5 on Sept. 24. Plus, we can look forward to Vince Gilligan’s “Pluribus” on Nov. 7 and original films like “Highest 2 Lowest” on Sept. 5 and “The Lost Bus” on Oct. 3.
If you’re a fan of Apple TV+’s offerings, this news might be a bit of a bummer, but with all the exciting content and no ads, it seems like they’re trying to make it worth your while. So, keep an eye out for that updated bill within the next 30 days and get ready to enjoy all the new shows and movies headed your way!
