Eenie Meanie Review: A True Hidden Gem
This film, Eenie Meanie, is a hidden gem that’s full of punchy jokes and action that really deserves a bigger audience. It follows Edie (played by Samara Weaving), a former criminal getaway driver turned bank teller, who finds herself pulled back into a life of crime to save her ex-boyfriend John.
Directed by Shawn Simmons in his debut, this movie is a fun mix of action, comedy, and a bit of dark humor. Samara Weaving shines as Edie, a character trying to set things right after a troubled past. Forced to take on one last heist by a local crime boss, played by Andy Garcia, Edie’s journey is packed with energy and excitement.
While the film may have a bit too much going on in the beginning, the heist sequences are engaging and enjoyable. The energy of the movie, reminiscent of Shane Black and Edgar Wright films, keeps you entertained throughout. Although the final act takes some unexpected turns that may divide viewers, it’s a testament to the film’s ability to surprise.
Overall, Eenie Meanie is a fantastic debut for Shawn Simmons and a showcase for Samara Weaving’s talent. If you’re a fan of action-comedies with a twist of dark humor, this film will be a great addition to your streaming watchlist. Looking forward to the sequel, which should be named ‘Miny Moe’ based on this promising start.
