Prime Video Premieres Kashmiri Musical Drama “Songs of Paradise” on August 29

Prime Video announced the debut of “Songs of Paradise,” a Kashmiri musical drama, on August 29. The film, inspired by the life of Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum, will be available for streaming exclusively in India and over 200 countries and territories across the globe starting on August 29.

The movie presents an inspiring narrative set in Kashmir, blending cultural and emotional landscapes against the backdrop of music. Presented by Excel Entertainment and produced by Apple Tree Pictures Production and Renzu Films Production, the film is directed by Kashmiri filmmaker Danish Renzu. it stars Saba Azad and Soni Razdan, playing the character Noor Begum inspired by Raj Begum. The cast also includes Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, Taaruk Raina, and Lillete Dubey.

Described as a poignant tribute to resilience, identity, and courage, “Songs of Paradise” retells the story of Kashmir’s first prominent female playback singer. Her music and defiance not only challenged societal boundaries but also fostered inspiration among generations of women.

The director and head of content licensing at Prime Video India, Manish Menghani, stated that the film offers a fresh and emotional perspective, rooted in Kashmir’s rich musical legacy. It embodies a remarkable true story of resilience and independence.

Director Danish Renzu expressed that “Songs of Paradise” is a heartfelt tribute to Raj Begum, showcasing her as the first female voice at Radio Kashmir.
