Co-op Student on Netflix’s ‘Somebody Feed Phil’ – Northeastern Global News

Recently, a Northeastern University graduate, Kaia Reed, found herself on a Netflix show called “Somebody Feed Phil” without even knowing what it was! Along with three of her roommates, she volunteered to appear on the show at the Charles River Esplanade in Boston.

For those unfamiliar, “Somebody Feed Phil” features Phil Rosenthal sampling local cuisine and exploring attractions in different cities. In Season 8, Episode 3, which aired in June, Phil visited Boston and met with Kaia and her friends who were volunteering with the Esplanade Association.

At the time, Kaia was a co-op student working with the Esplanade Association. She had the opportunity to show Phil and his crew around the Esplanade, picking up trash and sharing their experiences with the nonprofit.

Kaia, who graduated with a degree in communications and media and screen studies, described her time working with the Esplanade Association as a valuable experience. The unexpected chance to be on a Netflix show came about through an email from her boss mentioning Netflix, which led to her and her friends being featured in the episode.

Reflecting on the experience, Kaia expressed gratitude for the networking opportunity and the chance to be a part of something so exciting. The segment ended with Phil treating Kaia and her roommates to some delicious treats from Verveine Cafe in Cambridge. It was a unique and unexpected experience that Kaia wouldn’t have had without her co-op program at Northeastern University.
