Apple TV+ Subscription Price Raised to $12.99
Apple has announced that they will be increasing the price of their Apple TV+ streaming service by $3, making the new monthly cost $12.99. This change will apply to new subscribers in the U.S. and a few other international markets starting Thursday. The annual subscription price will remain the same, along with the pricing for the Apple One bundle, which includes Apple TV+ along with other services like iCloud and Apple Music.
Apple TV+ has gained attention for its hit show ‘Severance’, which received an impressive 27 Emmy Award nominations this year, as well as popular series like ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘The Morning Show’. Despite these successes, Apple TV+ still trails behind competitors like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video in terms of subscribers.
While Apple does not disclose specific subscriber numbers for Apple TV+, estimates suggest it reached about 40.4 million subscribers by the end of 2024. In contrast, Netflix boasted over 300 million paid memberships by the end of the previous year.
This price increase follows a previous $3 bump in October 2023, and is in line with the recent trend of streaming services adjusting their prices. According to reports, Apple is currently operating at a loss of over $1 billion annually on Apple TV+, despite spending billions on content production each year.
So, if you’re a fan of Apple TV+ and its original programming, be prepared for the new price change that will be coming into effect soon.
