Goodbye MSNBC, Hello My Source for News and Opinion

MSNBC is saying goodbye to its familiar name and hello to a fresh start as MS NOW. This change comes as the network readies itself to move forward without its longtime association with NBC News. The rebrand, which includes a new logo and acronym, stands for “My Source for News, Opinion and the World.”

The MSNBC name has been around since 1996 when it was first launched in partnership with Microsoft. Even though Microsoft left the partnership a few years later, the network continued with the same name for over two decades. But now, as NBCUniversal’s owner Comcast plans to separate its TV channels into a new publicly-traded company called Versant, MSNBC is preparing for a future without direct ties to NBC News.

The decision to rebrand comes as a result of Comcast’s reshuffling, with Versant taking over many of its television properties. As the transition nears completion, the network is bolstering its team with new hires in anticipation of the change.

As we reflect on this significant shift, it’s clear that MSNBC is evolving into something new and distinct. The move to MS NOW represents a fresh chapter for the network, free from its past associations and ready to carve out its own path.

It will be interesting to see how the audience responds to this rebrand and what it means for the future of MS NOW. With a new name and identity, the network is signaling its commitment to delivering news, opinions, and insights that resonate with viewers in a rapidly changing media landscape.
