Disney enchanted by teen witch series Coven Academy – Kidscreen
A spell has been cast at Coven Academy, as Disney Branded TV gives the green light to this magical teen witch series. The creative mind behind this enchanting show is Tim Federle, known for his work on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
The concept for Coven Academy was so charming that it earned a pilot order just five months ago, and fans can expect the full series to debut on Disney+ and Disney Channel in 2026. This live-action dramedy follows three young witches-in-training as they learn to protect their city from ancient forces while navigating the typical challenges of adolescence.
Tim Federle is no stranger to captivating youth audiences, as evidenced by his success with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. He will be at the helm of Coven Academy as an executive producer through his Chorus Boy Productions banner, joined by Kimberly McCullough and Bronwyn North-Reist. Federle is also working on another exciting Disney project, Vampirina, a music-driven series about a vampire attending a human boarding school.
If the premise of Coven Academy seems familiar, that’s because magical schools for young adults have a timeless appeal. With the Harry Potter series getting the TV treatment on HBO Max in 2027, Disney’s decision to invest in Coven Academy makes perfect sense. The studio has a proven track record with supernatural live-action shows, like the recent hit Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires and the upcoming Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
Get ready to be charmed by the magical world of Coven Academy when it makes its debut next year!
