Dallas Jenkins Expands Biblical Universe with Prime Video Series: Joseph of Egypt

Dallas Jenkins, the creator of “The Chosen,” is expanding his biblical universe with a new Prime Video series called “Joseph of Egypt.” Starring Adam Hashmi, the 8-episode limited series, co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios, tells the Old Testament story of Joseph, who overcomes betrayal to rise to power in Egypt.

The series boasts an impressive cast, including Alexander Siddig as Jacob, Babak Tafti as Simeon, Daniel Peera as Reuben, and Iris Bahr as Leah. Other familiar faces will make recurring appearances, like Dakota Shapiro, Tannaz Shastiri, and Moran Atias.

The writer, executive producer, and showrunner for “Joseph of Egypt” is Craig Wright, with Dallas Jenkins serving as an executive producer under his 5&2 Studios banner. The project is part of Jenkins’ first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios, which also includes streaming rights for “The Chosen.”

This new series follows in the footsteps of “The Chosen,” a crowd-funded drama about the life of Jesus that has gained worldwide popularity as a streaming phenomenon. Jenkins announced the “Joseph” project at ChosenCon in Orlando, Florida, along with plans for a series based on the Acts of the Apostles and other biblical stories.

While adapting sacred texts for the screen presents challenges, Jenkins always emphasizes the show’s biblical foundation and artistic elements. He hopes viewers will watch with an open mind and heart, engaging with the scripturally-inspired storytelling.
