Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Includes Doctor Who Easter Egg
I recently stumbled upon a fantastic Easter egg in the latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that has me super excited for what’s to come. Warning: spoilers ahead for the episode “The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail.” In this episode, there is a sneaky reference to Doctor Who, another beloved sci-fi series. Fans spotted the TARDIS, the iconic time-traveling police box from Doctor Who, hidden in the background of a scene featuring the USS Enterprise. It’s a subtle nod that has me eagerly anticipating the next episodes of the show.
If you missed the TARDIS in the episode, you’re not alone. It was a blink-and-you-miss-it moment that only the most eagle-eyed fans caught. The TARDIS appears in every shot of the entangled USS Enterprise inside the Scavenger ship. It’s a clever crossover that got fans of both franchises buzzing with excitement.
While it would be amazing to see an official Doctor Who and Star Trek crossover, it’s unlikely due to various corporate ownerships. However, there seems to be an unofficial agreement for the two series to reference each other, so we may see more subtle nods like this in the future. This is not the first time these two universes have crossed paths – there was a comic book crossover in 2012 where the Eleventh Doctor teamed up with Captain Picard and the crew of the Enterprise-D to battle a threat that could assimilate the entire universe.
Overall, this Easter egg is a fun treat for fans of both Star Trek and Doctor Who and shows the creativity and playfulness of the creators behind these iconic series. I can’t wait to see what other surprises they have in store for us in future episodes.
