CBS New Country Music Competition ‘The Road’ $250000 Prize Kickoff
CBS is gearing up for the premiere of its new reality competition series, “The Road,” which is set to debut on Oct. 19 and will be available for streaming on Paramount+ afterward. This exciting show will feature 12 up-and-coming country artists, such as Adam Sanders, Billie Jo Jones, and Olivia Harms, as they embark on a tour of music venues across the U.S. in hopes of winning a $250,000 prize and a record deal. The ultimate goal? The chance to open for the legendary Keith Urban.
The series promises to give viewers an inside look at the real challenges faced by country musicians while on tour. In a sneak peek, Shelton, one of the show’s producers, emphasizes the thrill of performing before a live audience and the opportunities that come with it. He highlights the importance of mastering essential skills like crafting a setlist, engaging with fans, and commanding the stage—all valuable lessons that aspiring artists can’t learn in a classroom.
Co-produced by Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, and Lee Metzger, “The Road” has already generated a buzz in the music industry. Sheridan, known for his work on “Yellowstone,” is excited to venture into unscripted music television and showcase the raw talent and dedication of emerging country artists. With Gretchen Wilson as the tour manager and Keith Urban offering mentorship, contestants will have the chance to learn from seasoned professionals and hone their craft while on the road.
The tour kicked off in March at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall in Fort Worth and wrapped up in April at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Whether you’re a country music fan or just love a good competition, “The Road” promises to be a thrilling and insightful journey for viewers and contestants alike. Stay tuned for the premiere this October, and see which artist will rise to the occasion and secure their spot on the coveted stage alongside Keith Urban.
